About the Design

The Gum Wall is a brick wall situated beneath Pike Place Market in Downtown Seattle. Located on Post Alley near Pike Street, the wall is covered with used chewing gum. Certain sections measure several inches in thickness, reaching a height of 15 feet along a 50 foot segment of the wall. Originating inadvertently in the 1990s, the Gum Wall has evolved into a notable tourist attraction and local landmark.
